Ago Today – January 19, 1996
- At the 4:36 mark of the 1st quarter, Ft. Thomas
Highlands guard, Jamie Walz, scores her 10th and 11th
points of the game to move her past Geri Grigsby as the states’ all-time
leading scorer with 4,386 career points scored. The game is stopped; the crowd
of 3,355 recognizes her incredible achievement with a round of standing
ovations. Walz finishes the night with 32 points, 14 assists, 12 rebounds and 5
steals as Highlands gets the win over Newport Catholic Central, 82-57.
