- Defending State Champion Scott County has its 27-game
winning streak stopped as Ballard knocks off the Cardinals 78-68 at the Gardens
in the Semifinals of the Louisville Invitational Tournament. Five Ballard
starters, led by Spencer Graeter’s 16 points, score in double figures for the
Bruins while Scott Co. is led by Rick Jones’ 23 points and A.W. Hamilton’s 16.
Scott Co. has beaten Ballard twice within the last three weeks, 111-91 in a
pre-Christmas Tournament in Florida and 74-71 in the Holiday Classic at
Lexington Catholic but failed to keep the states’ longest current winning
streak alive after losing to the Bruins in this matchup of the state’s top teams.
