Ago Today – December 4, 2004
- Boyle Co. had won five consecutive state titles and 29
playoff games in a row before the smothering Highlands defense comes up big in
a 22-6 victory over the Rebels to claim the 2004 Class 3A State Championship at
Papa John’s Stadium. The Highlands defense, lead by Mike Stowers, Jordan Nevels
and Isaac Sherrer, forced six (6) Boyle Co. turnovers in holding Boyle Co. to a
season low of 181 yards of total offense. Offensively for the Bluebirds the go
ahead score is set up by a 61-yard halfback pass from James Hubbard to Chris
Owens. The title for Highlands is the schools 16th Football State Championship!
