- After defeating Kentucky, 81-78 in overtime in a Final Four matchup, Michigan falls in the National Championship Game to North Carolina 77-71. Chris Weber, with the ball and the Wolverines trailing by two, signals for a timeout with just seconds to go in the game. However, with no timeouts remaining, Michigan is assessed with a technical foul and the Tarheels put the game away at the free-throw line.
