This Day In Kentucky Sports History

16 Years Ago Today – June 18, 2009

After three intense days of tryouts in Colorado Springs, Colorado, two Kentucky standouts have earned spots on the prestigious USA U19 National Basketball Team. Mason County’s Darrius Miller, the 2008 Kentucky Mr. Basketball, and former Bryan Station star Shelvin Mack were both named to the final 12-man roster. Coached by Jamie Dixon, the team will now set its sights on international competition as they head to Auckland, New Zealand, to compete in the FIBA U19 World Championships, set for July 2–12.
