This Day In Kentucky Sports History

25 Years Ago Today – June 25, 2000

The Kentucky High School Baseball Association today named Henderson County’s Bill Tom Wayne as the 2000 Coach of the Year. Coach Wayne guided the Colonels to a 33-7 record and the school’s first-ever state championship, capped by a 1-0 victory over Ballard in the state title game. Ballard shortstop Spencer Graeter, who hit an impressive .529 for the state runner-up Bruins and has signed to play at the University of Kentucky, was honored as Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball.
